Tieks by Gavrieli – Review 2017

Have you heard of Tieks?

If you’re like me, you’d not heard of Tieks until you saw them on Pinterest.

I was cruising around on Pinterest looking for Stitch Fix outfits to pin for my Stitch Fix Reviews and I kept seeing these cute little Tieks ballet flats in rainbows of colors.  What could a Shoe-Aholic like me do but click on the reviews to find out more?  So, off I went on a fact finding mission to see what these adorable little shoes were all about.

“Tieks  noun. The most versatile flats in the world. Made of the finest Italian leathers and designed to fold and fit in a purse. Wearable all day, every day.” – From the Tieks web site https://tieks.com/abouttieks

What I found was a company that makes ballet flats by hand using real Italian leather (or for those who prefer, Vegan cloth). It takes 3 days and 150 hours to produce one pair of Tieks. So yes, they’re on the pricey side, but as the saying goes; you get what you pay for.

I read several reviews that stated they were the most comfortable and durable ballet flat on the market. They were so cute, I just had to try them out.  You can only order Tieks on-line at https://tieks.com/boutiek.  There were so many colors and patterns to choose from I had a hard time narrowing it down to just one pair.  I finally settled on the Cardinal Red Classics and placed my order.

They Arrive!

It took a couple of weeks for them to arrive, because of course they were being made by hand. When the day finally came, I was super excited to open the box and try them on.  They came packaged in a lovely teal blue box with a cute silk flower on top. There was so much packed into this little box, all snugly folded together.  The shoes of course were there, but also a tote bag, drawstring shoe bags and a handwritten note. Very classy.

Then I slipped them on.  The leather was soft, the footbed was cushioned and the heel was padded. There was no toe cleavage (that ugly v between toes that shows in some flats) and they didn’t make my feet look like boats.  I walked around the house, they didn’t slide up and down on my heel, or rub any of the usual places a ballet flat rubs raw.  The only slightly uncomfortable bit was the tops of my big toes, there was a bit of downward pressure there.  However, since they’re real leather, I knew they’d stretch out a bit, so I decided to keep them and wear them to work the next day.

Now that I’ve had these Cardinal Red Tieks for a couple of months, I’m in love with them.  They’re really cute, they’re comfortable, they’re stylish. They can be worn with jeans, skirts, dresses, just about any thing I have in my closet.  They’re even part of my new favorite outfit.

My Cardinal Red Tieks are now my “go to” shoe of choice.  So, of course I pMustard Yellow Tieksurchased a couple more pairs: Mustard Yellow and Clover Green.   I did make a mistake in the purchase of these two colors.  I followed the advice on the
web site to size down since they don’t come in half sizes.  I should have ordered the same size as my red Tieks. But, a little shoe stretching and they’re now almost as comfortable as my original pair.  My next pair will be a size 8, and there will be a next pair.Clover Green Tieks
